Out of curiousity. I was wondering why not many people use Paintshop Pro anymore? I have never used Photoshop and am envious at the lack of posts under this section. I was a member before Jakooldesigns closed and can remember how even then there was always more Photoshop posts.

Is Photoshop better? And if it is, why?

Thanks.

I haven't used Paintshop Pro in years (I had a warez version in like 97 back when warez sites were wide open to the public and no one cared), but from what I remember - Photoshop is used professionally almost everywhere, it's got way more support by a major company (Adobe) and since more people use it (whether legally or not), there's much more out there as far as tutorials and such. Personally I think the tools that Photoshop has seem better, but again I haven't used PSP in years.

Yes, Paint Shop Pro is the often neglected step child of the computer graphics world. Basically it is a "poor man's" version of its more advanced cousin. In other words....the cost difference between the two programs is rather substantial. For those able to cope with PSP's disadvantages (and/or who simply can't afford the cost of PS), such as limited features for text manipulation, then obviously Paint Shop Pro is the more affordable choice.

While PSP does have its limitations and quirks, in comparison to PS and other high-end graphics programs, it is by no means lacking in viability. If you have the time and patience (among other things) to keep working at it, you can produce works that are still able to challenge those made with "better" proggies.
